ArkData announces 'Ark for CDC' supports TDE for latest version of Oracle DB

ArkData (CEOs Koh Gwang-yeon and Jang Yoon-cheol), a company specializing in database (DB) replication, announced on the Oct. 29th,2020 that its DB replication solution "Ark for CDC" supports ‘Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)’, the data protection function of the latest version of the Oracle DB, "Oracle 19c".
As such, companies using Oracle 19c can easily replicate data to other DBs when building disaster recovery (DR) systems or replacing hardware (HW).
Maintaining DB security, which is the center of corporate information technology (IT) infrastructure, is crucial. DB encryption is essential for large amounts of data and personal information of customers. While "Structured Query Language (SQL)" was the main method for DB encryption in the past, recently the TDE function has proven to be dominant. TDE allows for encrypting of data or the storage space itself and storing it onto a disk. While TDE is convenient for DB encryption because it does not require application modification, data replication becomes more difficult.
Korean companies specializing in data replication solutions are having a tough time in extracting data because they cannot decrypt data encrypted with TDE. If the data replication solution does not support TDE, DB replication will fail when a company that has built the latest version of Oracle DB builds a DR system or replaces HW.
Based on the accumulated technology for DB replication, ArkData has developed its own DB replication solution, Ark for CDC, to support TDE for Oracle 19c. Ark for CDC, first to be equipped with log analysis engine technology in Korea, supports real-time DB replication in different DB and operating system (OS) environments. Currently, there are about 20 large corporations and public institutions using Ark for CDC.
