ArkData, a Korean company specializing in data replication integrated solutions, has launched a real-time data replication solution, ‘Ark for Kafka,’ to support the Kafka platform.
'Apache Kafka' is a message queue platform that manages various types of real-time data feeds. Its strengths are high processing capacity and low latency, and it can also handle real-time streaming data. Thus, many global corporations are currently using it.
‘Ark for Kafka' was developed by grafting Changed Data Capture (CDC) technology and Kafka Connector to improve the existing system data usage environment, which was having a hard time with operation management due to the complexity of the data pipelines. It goes through a simple saving process that delivers the database extracted by ‘Ark for CDC,' the existing CDC product of ArkData, through the Producer Connector. The collected data can be delivered to any target DB that a user wants through the Consumer Connector.
ArkData focused on simplifying a series of processes so that users can use the Kafka platform more easily. By using such collected data, the company can create new business value and increase the continuity between services through Kafka since the system integration is simplified.
Also, ‘Ark for Kafka', which is designed as one solution for CDC, Kafka Producer, and Consumer, does not need an additional solution to respond flexibly to data volume and user increases without any additional cost. It especially has high expandability, thus, it provides linkage with various RDBMS and Hadoop through ‘Ark for Kafka' as well as providing various environments such as BareMetal Server, Cloud, Docker/Kubernetes, and so on.
Operation management convenience and price-cutting effects are also big advantages. It can be installed on any system with simple installation conditions and provides an intuitive and easy installation method, thus, even a beginner engineer can constitute it easily. It enhanced the operation convenience by providing a web-based monitoring manager with no additional purchase. In addition, it provides Open API to provide a work environment optimized for the user's environment.
ArkData CEO Ko Kwang-yun said, “’Ark for Kafka’ enables users to build the Kafka platform easily and quickly, so companies can collect and distribute data efficiently.” He added, “Compared to foreign solutions, it has more than 60% of TCO cutting effects and since it provides monitoring service without additional license purchase, more companies can now use Kafka.”
